The problem
Finance apps usually think about one person. A real household has shared expenses, partial payments and debts that two people need to see the same way.
What I built
An app to keep track of money from your phone, with an overview dashboard and tools to plan the month.
- Transactions and income
- Budgets
- Loans and savings
- Bills
- Household expenses
- Confirmed settlements
Key decisions
I replaced manual queries with a single real-time subscription. Moving between months stopped depending on the network, and a whole class of stale-data bugs went away.
Each person writes only to their own ledger. When someone settles or makes a partial payment, the other gets a request and confirms it; balances match without anyone editing someone else's data.
Shared money is deducted when it's settled, not before, so the balance reflects what actually left the account.
Outcome
It's an active app in real use, installable as a PWA, with an install prompt designed for iOS as well.
